Coach Lutz addresses the Kashie Natt situation. Natt has a temporary restraining order, and he's eligible, and with the team, BUT he has not crossed over the final step. There will be a court case in the future, and you can bet the NCAA will come locked & loaded to beat his case, and others like it, because it's precedent. If every time the NCAA makes a ruling, a player can then go around or above that with local judges granting them what's called an "ex parte" temporary restraining order, that would mean the NCAA has absolutely ZERO final authority over ANYTHING. At that point, there is NO law, and there are NO rules, and, while you may have your own opinion on the NCAA, and the job they do, we all surely agree there needs to be rules that EVERYBODY has to play by. So, his case, as well as others are going to be, as Coach put it, a mess. But, until that final case is heard and the final decision is made, Natt will be with the team and eligible to play. #gopokes #okstate

Coach Lutz Said WHAT About Kanye Clary?
Coach Lutz talked about the Freshmen & Sophomores for this year's team. Coach is setting a VERY tough, and SUPER gritty tone to this year's team. The message is, has been, and will continue to be about toughness and "buy in". The goal, whether intentional or not, is, beyond everything else, this IS going to look like OSU basketball. The Blue Collar brand that OSU basketball fans grew to love under Coach Sutton and became fiercely loyal to. Don't get me wrong, if you win, OSU fans won't care what style you play, but we want to see toughness, grit, IQ, and we want the other team to feel like they've been in a Bar Fight when they've played us. #gopokes #okstate
The OSU Freshman Basketball Class Could Be BIGTIME!
Coach Lutz is a STRAIGHT SHOTTIN' DUDE! And, let's be clear, not EVERY player in this day and age will appreciate that, or, TBH, be able to handle that style of toughness. But, for the ones that do, like Kanye Clary learned to do in the 2nd half of last year, they WILL find their best version. As Kanye did down the stretch last season. And, as time goes on, they'll 100% appreciate that they were told the truth and were forced to get better based on that. Or pout and make it about them and their feelings, which, in that case, you're not around long. As per this team: A couple of things that hurt OSU basketball last year, IMO, were that they were undersized when playing their best offensive rotations. This team has a lot of length, and Coach Lutz should have a lot of different types of lineups that he can put on the floor that will give this team different looks based on the combinations. OSU will be able to match up regardless of the type of team they're playing, because this team has a lot of diversity in terms of size and skill set. And, the basketball IQ! Every player at this level knows how to play, and they understand Xs and os. But the "innate" ability to learn each other to know every player's strengths, and what it takes to get them in the "flow state," is where IQ truly comes from. When teams understand each other, and NO ONE wants to be the hero, that's when they stop thinking and start reacting, and that's when the basketball IQ improves. This team, led by Kanye Clary and several other "gritty" dudes, seems to have a certain level of toughness that I think last year missed when things got tough. Of course, we'll have to see how each player reacts the first time they face adversity, tough coaching, less playing time than they want, etc. But, all indications are that there was a very specific effort to make this team tough, smart, gritty, and tough, and all the things you want a team to be beyond just the talent alone. #gopokes #okstate
The Basketball "FEEL" Will Be Better & OSU Basketball Will Have More Size
OSU basketball is headed to Puerto Rico to play 3 games, one each on Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday. Coach Steve Lutz discusses the Puerto Rico trip and the competition OSU will face. The Cowboys will be playing an actual team. The Puerto Rican professional league is in its playoffs right now, and when a team loses, OSU will pay the players on that team to stick around a little longer to play OSU. Whether or not every player will stick around is up to each individual, but for every player who chooses not to, the team can then acquire another player from a different team that has also been eliminated. Coach is excited to play an actual team, and thinks the competition will be good for at least 2 of the 3 games. #gopokes #okstate

All Time Records for Bobby Riley!
Check out the legendary story of how Bobby Riley committed to OSU in the video below. Both Merv Johnson of OU AND Dave Wannstedt of OSU were in Stroud, and they were BOTH watching him practice basketball in the gym you're looking at in this video. Bobby told Merv that he was going to go to OSU, but then, after practice was over, Riley and Wannstedt left the gym, Riley flipped to OSU, and the rest is HISTORY. WOW! Oh...And by the way...Riley averaged 29.7 points per game in the 1982-1983 season, and basketball was the ONLY sport he didn't make All-State in that year. How Bobby Riley, OSU GREAT, Committed to OSU...WOW!
We remember Bobby Riley as a STAR receiver, but most OSU fans probably don't know about him is that baseball was maybe his BEST sport. And it certainly was his favorite. Bobby was known to win Long Jump contests in track in the mornings, then drive home & hit home runs that evening on the baseball diamond.
