Oklahoma State showed its versatility and experience Sunday night as the Cowboys opened their Puerto Rico exhibition tour with a 94-88 victory over Selección BSN.
OSU kept a lead of roughly 8-10 points for much of the night, and, when the PR team would cut into it, the Cowboys would flurry back. It got scary at the end, when after OSU gave up a layup last in the game, they had just a 4-point lead, but seconds later Jordan Burks connected from long distance, and that was all she wrote. The game was played in quarters, not halves, and OSU outscored Selección BSN 23-16 in the first quarter to gain the lead they held onto all night.
After the 1st quarter, both teams played almost exactly evenly on the scoreboard throughout the rest of the evening.
While the final margin was only six points, OSU felt in control of the game all night and did, in fact, control many key statistical categories. The Pokes outrebounded Selección BSN 51-34 and won the second-chance points battle 19-10. The Cowboys also got a lot of great work from their bench, especially Mekhi Ragland, who has completely reshaped his body. The Pokes outscored Selección BSN’s bench 50-41.
Jordan Burks led Oklahoma State offensively with 16 points on 5-of-6 shooting, and he hit the BIG 3 late that put the game away. Burks was 2-of-3 from beyond the arc and was perfect at the free-throw line, converting all four attempts while also grabbing six rebounds.
Andrija Grbovic added 13 points and pulled down a team-high eight rebounds in an impressive all-around performance. The veteran forward shot 6-for-9 from the field and had four assists, and the work he did on the glass went a long way in helping OSU win.
Kashie Natt poured in 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting in his OSU debut, and had six rebounds and three assists in just over 23 minutes of action. Hopefully, he will be eligible all year for OSU!
Jacob Walker was SUPER IMPRESSIVE, matching Natt with 11 points, converting 6-of-7 free throws, and making one three-pointer.
Mekhi Ragland…WOW! Dude looks GREAT & supplied valuable production off the bench, scoring 10 points on 4-for-6 shooting while grabbing six rebounds.
Luka Bogavac finished with eight points, including two three-pointers, while Kanye Clary contributed seven points and three assists running the offense.
Anthony Felesi stole the show early, displaying his dynamic skill set and ELITE athletic ability. Felesi scored four very early points and had five rebounds. Benjamin Ahmed added four points and four rebounds, Ryan Crotty knocked down a three-pointer, Parker Robinson scored five points, Julius Halaifonja added two points, and Latrell Allmond and Jalen Montonati also saw action.
As a team, Oklahoma State shot 45.8 percent (33-of-72) from the field and shot 51.4% in the 2nd half, which was a big improvement over the 1st half. The Cowboys made nine three-pointers and finished 19-of-25 (76.0 percent) at the free-throw line.
While OSU shot the ball well in the 2nd half, the game was probably won on the boards. OSU pulled down 19 offensive rebounds and turned those into 19 second-chance points. The Cowboys also forced enough mistakes to score 22 points off turnovers while finishing with 37 assists and 10 steals. So, while the defense wasn’t perfect, it was VERY active.
Although there’s not a lot to analyze from an exhibition like this, other than gaining experience, it was cool to see all the new players. It looks like this team will have depth as five players scored in double figures, and it was great to see them control the rebounding battle. It was also great to see them display an unselfish offensive approach throughout the game as well.
While the game does not count toward Oklahoma State’s regular-season record, it offered valuable experience for a roster featuring several newcomers. If Sunday night’s performance is any indication, the Cowboys appear to have the depth, athleticism, and rebounding ability to be a good team in the 2026-2027 season.
Oklahoma State will continue tonight in Puerto Rico at 7:00 against the same team they played on Sunday.
